Senior M.A.P.

The Senior M.A.P. program focuses on supporting youth in grades 9 through 12 in their educational journey. The M.A.P. program is a very specialized opportunity providing a variety of services under our four pillars; academics, advocacy, financial support, and social support. Students receive tutoring help from qualified volunteers who can provide assistance with homework, projects or studying for upcoming tests Monday through Thursday from 4pm-8pm.

Applicants arrive in the Senior M.A.P. program in a variety of ways, through a number of different programs. The Junior M.A.P. Program and the Leadership Program are both possible lead-in programs to the Senior M.A.P. Program. Furthermore, these programs are excellent in preparing students for high school and giving them the necessary tools that will make them successful on their academic journey, as well as in life.

Grade 12 Transition Program

This program is offered to Grade 12 M.A.P. students. The program is designed to provide students with the skills required to meet their post-secondary goals. Students will attend resume writing workshops, learn life skills, visit post-secondary institutions, learn to manage stress, conflict resolution, receive assistance and information that will guide them to finding housing, and to develop and improve financial literacy skills.

Scholarships

The M.A.P. program helps students to find and apply for appropriate scholarships and bursaries through one-on-one meetings and workshops.
Scholarships are a helpful way to ease the financial burden of post-secondary school.

Tutors

Tutors in the Senior M.A.P. program are instrumental in making the program function at the highest level. Tutors bring their academic knowledge and their life skills to the Senior M.A.P. program, helping the students gain a better understanding of fundamental study habits. These study habits and educational tools help students optimize their learning, which will carry on with the students for years to come.

Students will receive tutoring help from qualified volunteers who provide assistance with homework, projects or studying for upcoming tests.
One-on One tutoring is available for students needing additional homework assistance. One-on-One tutoring matches will meet weekly for an hour. Matches are made based on availability & qualifications of the volunteers.

We are always looking for volunteers to assist with homework help in various subjects

Financial Literacy

Senior M.A.P. Students will attend financial literacy workshops throughout the year on a variety of topics such as:
• Basic Banking
• Savings
• How to Handle a Pay Cheque
• Going to Post Secondary
• Scholarships

The M.A.P. program also helps students to find and apply for appropriate scholarships and bursaries through one-on-one meetings and workshops. Scholarships are a helpful way to ease the financial burden of post-secondary school!
