H.W. Coulson Swim-a-thon
February 16 to 20, 2010

"Swim a Mile to Make Kids Smile"

The H.W. Coulson Swim-a-thon is an annual event that is held during the third full week of February.

Our goal is to raise $100,000 to fund programs for the children and youth of London. Teams spanning from the corporate community, children, youth, students, service clubs, senior's groups, public service and our own Boys' & Girls' Club staff, participate in this worthwhile event.

We always welcome new teams to join in the fun. Starting each December, pledge forms are available at the Club to raise donations to support your team. Anyone that pledges $20 or more will receive a tax receipt for their donation.

Form a team of friends, family or coworkers to swim a mile in our pool. Swim times are available Monday to Friday evenings and Saturday afternoon. If you prefer, we can provide you with some young swimmers to do the 64 lengths of the pool for you. Following your team's swim, join us in the "Salty Dog Lounge" for complimentary refreshments. All teams receive a Certificate of Recognition, a team photo and if you raise $1,000 or more, a bronze team plaque on our "Swimming Wall of Fame".

The Swim-a-Thon is an opportunity to have fun, meet new people and make a difference by supporting children and youth in our community. Together we can help them reach their full potential ... "Because everybody starts small".

Koats For Kids

"Koats for Kids" is a community service of the Boys & Girls Club of London with area businesses and service clubs acting as partners in this very worthwhile undertaking - to ensure that every child is warm in the winter!.

Members from the Horton Street Seniors' Centre and staff from the Club volunteer their time and spend the day helping families find winter coats.

Each year, we handle just over 5,000 pieces of clothing including coats, heavy winter sweaters, hats and mitts, scarves and boots.

In late September and early October, we start our appeal to the public for donations of used coats that are in good condition. We ask them to drop off articles at the Club or at one of the local businesses and dry cleaners that assist us with the cleaning, repair, and collection of the coats. The Boys & Girls Club would welcome new or used coats in good condition, hats, mittens and gloves, boots and snowpants of any size.

Coats to be donated can be dropped off at Police headquarters, participating local businesses, dry cleaners or the Boys & Girls Club.

One coat will be given to each child free of charge while quantities last. Identification will be required for each individual receiving a coat. Children don't have to be present to receive a coat but proper identification is required. There is no registration for this program.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at (519) 434-9114 Ext. 241.
