BOUNCE is a program offered on Saturday mornings in the Boys' & Girls' Club of London gymnasium from 10:00-11:30am. It's an interactive program in which participants between the ages of 7-14 years learn the fundamentals of a large variety of team and individual sports. A new sport is introduced each month, and all participants have the opportunity to learn new skills and improve their sport specific knowledge and techniques while meeting new friends in a fun yet stimulating environment.
The following is a brief outline of theme sports offered from September 2009 to June 2010:

March 6, 13, 20, 27 - Kids Choice
April 3, 10, 17, 24 - Basketball
May 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 - Flag Football
June 5, 12 - Softball

Through an athletic medium all participants learn the fundamentals of sport; both hard and soft skills are introduced and practiced on a weekly basis. The hard skills introduced throughout the programming season include core body conditioning, increased flexibility, improved hand-eye coordination, improved gross motor skills as well as fine motor skills, overall cardiovascular conditioning, and improved speed, agility and acceleration. The soft skills include a strong emphasis on sportsmanship, leadership, confidence, discipline, respect for others as well as respect for self, and self-esteem. The principles of healthy living will also be introduced.

MUNCH is a program offered on Saturday mornings in the Boys & Girls Club of London Cafe from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm. It's an interactive program in which participants between the ages of 7 - 14 years learn fundamental culinary skills, as well as confidence and independence in a kitchen environment. The atmosphere promotes teamwork and many new friendships are often created. The idea that your child learn to prepare meals together with other children is not a new concept, but how it all comes together is always a new adventure!

A large variety of new foods and flavours are introduced throughout the year in themed months.

The following is an outline of focus foods offered from September 2009 to June 2010:

March 6, 13, 20, 27 - International Food
April 3, 10, 17, 24 - Cool Casseroles
May 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 - Brunch Time!
June 5, 12- BBQ Bonanza

All meals prepared follow the guidelines of the Canada Food Guide, which incorporates all four food groups. No meal is repeated, as we introduce new meal ideas each week. Teaching nutrition, healthy living, and the importance of exercise are the goals of this program. Additional goals include being more receptive to trying new foods, as well as the ability to make better food choices at home and school. Implementing and practicing the principles of a healthy lifestyle at a young age is key to ensure a healthy future for your child.
