Fitness Room

Our fitness room is equipped with*:

  • Treadmills
  • Recumbent & Upright Bikes
  • Rowing Machines
  • Elliptical machines
  • Free Weights
  • Strength Machines
  • Multi-workout Stations
  • Chin up Bar
  • Stability Ball
  • Area for Stretching

*Due to COVID-19 restrictions, some of the equipment may not be available. 

Our Fitness Room Coordinator, Jennifer, a background in Kinesiology and Health Science and has been facilitating exercise programs for older adults for the past 15 years. She will design a workout regime according to your fitness level.

Hours of Operation:

September to June: Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. except on P.A. days and holidays

Modified Schedule: 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (click here to see the dates for upcoming closures and P.A. days)

Fitness Room & pool(s) will be open on a modified scheduled on P.A. days, holidays, March Break and the summer. The modified summer schedule is available now for 2023 - click here to see it.

Fitness Room Regulations

  • Must be a Club member.
  • Ensure that your Doctor is made aware of your exercise intentions.
  • New members must meet with coordinator for an orientation before using the Fitness Room.
  • Fill out the required documents.
  • Indoor running shoes and appropriate exercise attire.

Members are required to clean each piece of equipment after every use.

Please note: Members must abide by the physical distancing guidelines at all times in the Fitness Room. Under current provincial guidelines, masks are not mandated to be worn while exercising but the HSSC encourages all members to wear their masks while working out in the Fitness Room.

Some programs require registration. You can register online via RecDesk or call 519-434-9114 during business hours to register over the phone.

  • Badminton
  • Carpet ball
  • Floor curling
  • Get Fit
  • Gentle Seated Exercise
  • Hula Hoop
  • Line dancing - Fee of $3/class is required; pay to the instructor on arrival
  • Pickle ball (Visitors are welcome on Mondays and Fridays and must pay $5 drop-in fee for each visit)

  • Tai Chi
  • Walking - Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. (except on P.A. days and holidays)
  • Open Gym
